SnowWhite Bunny 2.0

Hello everyone, here is Karen from lovelovek.com.

I just knitted another bunny for my loyal customer. I made her one Snowwhite Bunny and a Blue Elephant years ago. She is a lovely mother who wants her daughter and son having a handmade doll to grow up with. During their recent holiday trip, the little bunny was stolen including her daughter's backpack. What's a sad sad thing to happen!!! 😢

Don't worry! The SnowWhite Bunny 2.0 is here! 😁

For baby, I choose 100% organic cotton thread.
I found it is easier to knit in round instead of knitting flat & stitch up afterward.

This is a tailor-made bunny, The back of the dress it has a name of my customer's daughter.

Let's get dress!

I gave her a little extra,.... a backpack! :P

I hope this bunny will keep my customer's daughter happy and grow up with her!

Have a nice day!

Hand stitch with Applique & Embroidery - Part II

YEAH!  I finally have completed the whole piece, I cannot believe I really can finish it!
However, my hand stitch skill is not good, and the final piece look Not Square At all......

It was really hard to place 3 layers correctly together... and I have measured again and again... The main problem was my top piece after did the applique, the fabric is not Square anymore... and I sprayed some water on top hope can help, .... of cos cannot....

So I give up the perfection and just try to do as good as I can for the binding and tried to fit all 4 corners. I could manage 3 corners look fit, just one corner is a bit off! :P

After handled the binding, do the hand stitches line around the square and the pattern. I don't know what this part call, but I made it!

In conclusion, the first applique (the stems & leaves) my stitches were not quite right and you can see the green thread,... later on I was surfing on the Internet, then try another method. It works!

Hand Quilting, hand stitches, Applique, Embroidery are really hard work and not easy to manage them right!

I am envy so many ladies out there doing them so well! I should do more and make it better!
Do you agree with me?

Homemade Pizza from scratch

Last week, I was watching FoodTube with my boyfriend, and watching Gennaro to teach how to make an easy pizza dough... then I said ok let's make it!

Luckily, I bought the same yeast as he used at our local supermarket but I bought the plain flour is not white one is whole wheat one. I thought should be ok!

Now I can remember the ingredients, here we go:

500g    Plain Flour
1 tsp   Salt
7g      Yeast
325ml   Water

1) Mix well the Plain flour and salt first
2) Mix the Yeast into the water
3) Make a well on (1), then add (2) in
4) mix well then start kneading
5) Cut them into 4 smaller doughs
6) Cover with damp cloth or film for 2 hours

Of cos, please go to watch Gennaro's one on Foodtube! hehe

As I said I bought the whole wheat flour so the dough was a bit dried, not look like Gennaro's one, so we added a bit more water in.

I made the dough on Mon night and thought to prepare for our Tue night dinner, but my boyfriend could not wait,... so we baked our first pizza at 1:30AM.... we baked for 7 mins, but it should be better to bake maybe 10 mins....

On Tue night, we made 2 pizzas and each for 10 mins! YUMMY!!!!!!!
I love Pizza, from now on I can make my own! YEAH!

First post in 2015 - Miniature Leather DIY

Hello my blog, I feel sorry that I was too busy and lazy not keeping up my blog!

Last year I was busy for my aromatherapy study, exams and practice. Now I have finished the major classes and exams!

I still have some paper need to write and practice my aromatherapy skills on 8 clients and 7 treatments each. I am working on it but it is slower than I expected! >.<

Since last year April, I have started to order handcrafts from a Japanese website, Felissimo. They have so so so many good stuffs (Handcrafts, home products and fashions).

I bought their handcraft catalog, Couturier, at convenient store for some times but I was afraid to buy as thought their system is difficult to understand, didn't want to spend money,... lot of excuses! hehe

After a year, I have stocked up some amount of handcraft sets on hands!!! Recently and finally I finished all 12 miniature leather DIY. Felissimo has a lot of good ideas for beginners. Use the set I am going to show for an example.

Each month they send you a set with pre-cut leather, thread, instruction, pattern and felt. The felt that can let you try to do all by yourself to pracitce. This is a One-year series, it means once you order the first one, from next month to 12th month, they will send to you automatically and deduct the cost per month, NOT in advance! They usually charge shipping fee as 10% of your total purchase but now if you buy over 10,000Yen, you get free shipment (at least to Hong Kong) :P

Here are the little items I made! They are so cute! ^_^

If anyone want to try, I highly recommend! ehehe

PS: I am working on another new project from Felissimo but not in leather! Stay tune!

Sewing a clutch bag

I have been busy with my aromatherapy study, but in between exams. I got a kind of free days during June after a heavy mid-term exam of Essential Oil Pharmacy! LOL

After the last sewing class, I have been dig out my fabric, threads and tools etc I got years ago and also took out my mum's Singer "Vintage" sewing machine. Right after my EOP mid-term exam. I immediately started sewing. I picked this pattern:

Free Pattern & Tutorial from Charm Stitch

My good friend was coming to Hongkong from US for a week. So I wanted to make her something. So Let's begin!

I have been Pinterest a lot, Youtube-ing a lot to see how people do sewing. So I set up my workplace, sewing machine, iron, fabric, cutting boards, roll cutter, etc........

1) Cut out the fabric & iron them

2) Opened the sewing machine and started to putting the thread in... BUT... everytime I used this sewing machine, I could not remember how to put the thread & the robbin in... I needed to ask my mum how to put them on. Now, I cannot ask my mum anymore (T_T), but luckily I found on youtube! Oh Thank you very much!

So I started to sew,... another BUT... when I sew the right side together and the lining together I got a problem and I broke the sewing needles... luckily still have one more spare part!!!! @_@

Turned out it dose not look good at all and already 3am, so I gave it up for that night morning.

Next morning, I search on Youtube to see if anyone would teach more clear how to sew when passing by the zipper.

Found this one

So, I repeated to cut the fabric and iron them. Second time, I changed the lining fabric to a much lighter colour.

So, here is the comparison picture! LOL

Close-up on the good one:

The day I met her & her 2 kids we went to Ocean Park.

What's a sunny day!
I got some sun burn as I forgot to put on sunscreen on my arms and back! LOL

Share with you here - the Sleeping PANDA! They are so cute!

Although I have been quiet on blog & Facebook, I bought some other handicraft to try! Stay tune for my next sharing! :)

Sewing.... again

I went to a 2-hour sewing class yesterday at Cheung Sha Wan. I had some sewing experience but not well and I normally learn by watching online in the last few years! haha I found this class with a beautiful fabric and good price. so I give it a try!

I am amazed by the new sewing machine that is so so so advanced comparing to mine (that is 30+years old Singer that my mom bought it because of me LOL)! The one I used at class was Brother QC-1000 (HKD21,900). From now on I NEED to sew more!!!!!!!!!

Tailor-made crochet Amineko Cat

Remember I made my first Amineko Cat in September for Chinese Moon Cake Festival!?

Well... my friend saw that one and asked me to make Amineko that look-a-like her cat~ um........... I thought how to make 2 tones with cat face/body pattern...Well, obviously I accepted this challenge... Then I clicked to her Facebook and checked out the cat. Immediately I sketched it down, the front and the back of the cat.

There are some concerns to stop me start immediately to crochet:
1) The "Gold" color hair of the Cat
2) The Amineko Cat has some pebbles inside the body for stability (but mine used dry green bean not green pea) but definitely I don't want to use this for her cat as I don't know if she would wash it or not!!!! LOL but I looked around my home no shop has small pebble for this purpose.
3) How I crochet the 2-tone on each row...with all those patterns on the cat.
4) My bf was back to HK in Oct and only stayed 3 weeks.
5) I started my Aromatherapy course in late Sept, so I have started to study and home revision....

...so based on above points and more (such as laziness & watching TV)... the project was delayed.

Finally I think it is too bad if I couldn't finish it before Xmas for her. So I kicked my axx... I went to search yarn, beads,.........)I started and noticed my friend that I would give it to her by the end of last weekend [to give myself a push and let her know I am doing it! :P ]

So, the last week, I have been working hard on it every night..... but at the same time I was worry about my Chemistry exam as will be on 21/12..... what should I do!!!??!

Well well well.... I finished the cat COMPLETELY on yesterday, 15 Dec, 2013. Including photo-shooting, labelling & packaging! HAHAHA

Today, my friend has a day off and she would come to my office to pick it up~ Yeah, save my time! So, I would go for my Chemistry study from today Mon to Fri, Exam on Sat! Then Xmas BBQ on Sat evening with my gals~~~~~~ YEAH~~~~~

I think as my Aromatherapy course has a LOT to learn. I should NOT take any order of knitting! LOL

My 1st Toe Up Socks

Diagonal Lace Socks
Feb 11, 2012: I started with Wendy's Diagonal Lace Socks but at that time i couldn’t figure out some steps……… so frogged…..
Around Oct 2, 2013
After another year of knitting and learning more stuffs… I wanted to try it again BUT I changed another pattern also from Wendy….Double Eyelet Rib Toe-up Socks
I could handle most of the part.
For Cast on method, I used Judy Magic Cast on because I can handle better this than Turkish cast on, but I have a problem on one side after knit the first round…. having a HOLE… :( Don’t know how to fix this….
Also, the Wrap & Turn I did not do well too... LOL
I will try more different technique socks for comparison~

After finished up this pair of sock, I went back to Craftsy.com a free short tutorial by Carol Feller about Short Rows method!!! Also I purchased another online knitting class on "Knit Original Toe-up Sock" with Donna Druchuans.

Chinese Moon Cake Festival 2013

Today is Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival aka Moon Cake Festival!

Beside Moon Cake we can have, paper lantern is another popular item especially for kids.

In the last 2 years I wanted to knit a Bunny Lantern (one of the traditional one) but always too late to do so....
This year I thought let do something more funny is (1) make Amineko (2) make a bunny lantern for him.
I MADE IT!!!!! YAY

Also, I am happy that I bought a mini moon cake with a cute miniature moon cake tin.
This pattern on the tin is one of the oldest moon cake box pattern. In the very early stage, it was printed on a paper box with moon cake. Later on, printed on tin but usually held 4 normal sizes moon cake inside this tin! hehe

Tonight, we will go to our grandma's home for a family dinner, eating moon cake, playing lanterns and look up to the sky for the FULL Moon!

Happy Moon Cake Festival

祝大家中秋節快樂!

Also, he is my first CROCHET doll.

However I had problem when crocheting in round, sometime when keep on moving up... the number of stitches changed.... So when I making the 2nd arm (halfway) & I compared to the 1st one...er... why not look the same!?@@#@$#$%... look bigger... so undo...re-do.. 2 times, 3 times,.. or 4 times. I can't remember. Then for the legs happened the same! =.=

At the end, somehow look ok altogether! LOL

I will make more accessories for him to make more funny pictures!

Rose Teapot Cozy

My 1st crochet TEAPOT COZY is done!!!!

The pattern I followed was a Japanese pattern book & the original one with RED roses. At the beginning I also thought to use red color but I realise that the teapot itself has pink & purple rose patterns. Last minute change! eheheh

The body of the cozy is easy to make and took not too long BUT the sewing up for the roses & leaves, then attached the roses on the cozy... REALLY TAKE TIME!!!!!

Another piece as "Labor of Love" XD!

I also found that the Doily Dishcloth I made earlier in August is  a perfect match for this. So let them being together! hehehe

It is sent out today and hopefully it will be arrived on time!!!!!

Wish me luck!
